Semplicemente Mare

This painting focuses on the vastness of nature. And what better way to convey this idea than with the sea and sky in perspective? The observer is transported to a shoreline with undefined boundaries, with clouds above that stretch into infinity. The atmosphere is one of peace and absolute silence; the sand and rocks beneath one’s feet are tangible, and not just in a figurative sense: the seabed is covered with green rock-dust from Zabriskie Point in Death Valley. The yellow on the beach is also composed of genuine colored sand from Tuscany.

This scene indeed contains two parts of the world that have left me breathless and will always do so: Death Valley and the Maremma. The acrylic plaster base of the painting enhances its texture, making it more real. All that’s missing is the sound of the wind and water and the smell of salt in the air.
